Since we are discussing the G scale, our root note will be G.
1st Chord ( Root Note ) : G chord
2nd Chord = Root Note + 5th Note = C chord ( C major )
3rd Chord = Root Note + 7th Note = D chord ( D major )
4th Chord = Root Note + 9th Note = E chord ( E minor )
- Why minor? Because the 4th chord in this scale is always a minor chord.
Hence, the four primary chords in the scale are G major, C major, D major and E minor.
This way, if you are asked to play a song on the guitar on the G major scale, you will play the following chords.
You will always hear melodious sounds with these chords despite the pattern you are playing as these chords are formed through a pattern of primary major chords of G major scale.
Which songs can be played on G major scale?
If you have a G-major scale, you can play almost all of the famous songs. The catch is that you don’t have to play it in the key of g major, you will only have to make use of the notes in it.
